Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

We celebrate our People and our Young People’s different backgrounds, characteristics, ideas and beliefs, and have a number of thriving networks to connect everyone.

We’ve created a culture where balancing your home and work life and working environment contributes positively to your emotional and physical well-being.

All of our networks host a variety of events throughout the year including in-person workshops, Lunch-and-Learns and Awareness Months. They often collaborate to reflect the intersectionality of our staff’s identities, backgrounds, cultures and lived experiences.

Equal Opportunities

The King's Trust is committed to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. We want to be an organisation that's representative of the communities we serve, which is why we strive for diversity of age, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, race, religion and sex. Our goal is to create an environment where everyone, from any background, can be themselves and do the best work of their lives.

We are looking for people that can bring different perspectives and experiences and especially welcome applications from those who are underrepresented in our organisation and sector, such as candidates from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds.

We’re a Stonewall Top 100 Employer and we are an employer that is Disability Confident. Our staff, volunteers and young people are supported by KT CAN (our Cultural Awareness Network), KT GEN (Gender Equality Network), KT DAWN (Disability & Wellbeing Network) and PULSE (LGBTQIA+ Network).

Our Networks

All of our networks host a variety of events throughout the year including in-person workshops, Lunch-and-Learns and Awareness Months. They often collaborate to reflect the intersectionality of our staff’s identities, backgrounds, cultures and lived experiences.

KT CAN

KT CAN is the Trust's cultural awareness network. They champion the cultural diversities of The King's Trust community (our staff, volunteers, young people and partners).

A deeper understanding and appreciation of the different cultures and communities which make up The King's Trust enables us to provide an enhanced employee experience and quality of service to the young people we reach.

KT DAWN

KT DAWN is our disability and well-being network and has been set up to promote an understanding of, and share best practices around, disability and well-being at work.

They build a positive, open and supportive network for those with experience of disability or health conditions, to discuss issues relating to disability equality and make it easier to navigate the experience of disability or lived experiences while flourishing at work.

PULSE

Pulse works across The Trust to ensure we have the best possible environment for colleagues and young people from the LGBTQIA+ community.

Pulse hosts a number of panel discussions throughout the year and ensures that we have a large presence at Pride events across the UK. The network has worked with the organisation to champion the use of pronouns across The Trust and to adapt language used in offices, processes, systems, documents and training. Pulse is visible, accessible and proud. The network is open to all colleagues.

KT GEN

KT GEN is our Gender Equality Network, committed to ensuring people of all genders are supported and empowered. The network is not just a group for women, we all need to work together to make gender equality happen so that The Trust can be as representative as possible. The network listens and promotes the opinions of colleagues on a range of topics, hosts a range of events to inspire and support colleagues, and shares resources.

The network has a particular focus on supporting working parents and carers, those experiencing menopause and those with experience of pregnancy loss. KT GEN also engages with our Delivery team to ensure that we are supporting young girls and women to achieve their potential.

GO GREEN

Go Green is The King’s Trust’s environmental action network. The network aims to drive positive environmental-related initiatives and change across the organisation, in support of our organisational Environmental Goals 2024 – 2030. The network celebrates two key annual events: Earth Day (April) and Plastic Free July.
